In summer of 2015, a consumer products company was looking for new packaging ideas for their product. There were two driving reasons. They had an original product for the craft market, which came packaged in small aluminum tins with various colored formulas inside the tins. The 30 sku’s were packaged with a common gold label on the top, with a black ink imprint designating the color of the product inside.

Together they worked through forecasted sales to create production printing runs to maximize the digital web, yet reduce potential overruns and obsolescence. Results: The business owner was able to give consumers a packaged product that featured the color formula that was inside the tin without creating high setup costs, or requiring long runs to hit cost of goods marks. The owner expressed, “What your new technology investment did for my company is break the traditional 40-50,000 minimum per label to 40-50,000 total run regardless of color change that made it economically feasible to grow our business to a new level sooner. Basically we don’t have overhead on over stocked items to get the best price, which in the long run cost you more money and ties up capital for products or services you need to grow now. We are now able to push into new markets that were not able to reach until you had a solution for us.”
